Overview

From short trips to week-long holidays in the mountains, Victoria's snowfields are a great place for the whole family.

Day tripping

Get the kids into the car and head towards Victoria's snowfields for a day to remember. Start a snowball fight, build a snowman together, or race each other downhill on toboggans. Victoria's snow resorts come with designated snow play areas and many are conveniently located next to car parks, so you can drive to within a few metres of the snow. With resorts such as Mt Baw Baw, Lake Mountain, Mt Stirling and Mt Buller so close to Melbourne, you can enjoy a day in the snow and still be back in time for dinner.

Snow holidays

Find an adrenaline rush on a downhill run, enjoy the bumps and jumps of terrain parks, or get in some time on the mountain exploring – snow sports can be enjoyed by the whole family in a safe and healthy setting. With downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, snow shoeing and snow tubing, as well as lot of fun activities on offer, there's no better way to keep the kids entertained and excited this winter.

Family snow holidays are easier than ever to plan. Choose from an array of packages at family-friendly resorts. Find your perfect family-friendly accommodation, from self-catering apartments to fully catered hotels and lodges.

Snow sports schools have programs for all ages and all ability levels. Larger resorts have creche facilities for young families as well as specialist day and half-day ski school programs for kids.

Keep it safe

For safety in the snow, use only moulded plastic toboggans and stay on tobogganing slopes – and remember that it is an offence to ride toboggans headfirst.
