Overview

Kick against those winter blues with a holiday or day trip to Hotham, Australia's highest alpine village. Built on a spectacular mountain ridge, the resort features majestic views, terrain to suit all abilities, along with a host of activities to keep you entertained, both on the slopes and off. Hit the snow on skis, snowboards and toboggans. Gear up for a bit of cross country, biathlon or night skiing action and let the kids' try out the mini snowmobiles.

Up and down the mountain

With 13 lifts catering for over 24,000 people an hour, downhill runs up to two and half kilometres long, and cutting-edge snow-making facilities, you won't be wasting time in queues or waiting for the right weather to come through. And that means a lot more time on the slopes.

Whether you're a first time skier or a seasoned pro you'll find plenty to get the heart racing and test your skills. There are lessons for novices of all ages, private tutorials, as well as a variety of programs to help intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders hone their skills. Experienced skiers looking for a new challenge can ditch the slopes and explore Hotham's backcountry terrain on guided tours.

Huskies, helicopters and starry nights

Enjoy a glass of bubbly and panoramic views on a sunset tour. Or for something a bit different, take to the skies on a stunning helicopter ride over the mountains.

Join a team of friendly Siberian huskies and race around the backcountry trails on a sled dog tour. Cuddle up with the kids in the back as you explore the winter wonderland, taking in stands of snow gums and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.

Settling in

Finish your action-packed day with a massage, skin treatment, spa or sauna at the mountain's lavish day spa and try out one of the 20 nearby restaurants and bars.

Family matters

Check out the Kids Snowzone, where children from 3 to 14 can learn how to ski or board. Featuring an extensive range of tailored lessons and programs, children of all ages will be out on the slopes in no time.

Need a break from the kids or just an hour to work on your jumps? Drop off the little ones at the Hotham Daycare for a full day, half day or even by the hour. Suitable for kids of 3 months to 5 years, the centre boasts three fun-filled playrooms and a separate family room.
