Share the joy of skiing and boarding with even the littlest ones in your brood. With ski schools caring for even the littlest snow bunnies, toddlers can learn to ski not long after taking their first steps. Classes are available at all the major ski resorts for children as young as three or four.
Hotham
Looking to keep the whole gang entertained?
Kids Snowzone programs include Mighty Mites (for ages three to six) and Kids club (for ages seven to 14). The programs include lessons, lifts, optional equipment hire and lunch. Kids can also enjoy mini-snowmobile rides and shows with Harry the Snowdragon. Daily registration for programs closes at 9.30am.
The safety of all children is a top priority for Hotham. To this end, every child who hires equipment from Hotham Sports or enrols in a Kids Snowzone program gets free use of a helmet.
Falls Creek
Located adjacent to the Cloud 9 complex at the top of the Falls Express Chairlift is a special theme park-style facility just for the kids. The Snowsports School caters for children from 3 years of age, offering professional caring staff and a fun filled atmosphere that provides the perfect learning environment for children.
The Snowclub (for ages three to six) program, or the Juniors Workshop (ages seven to 14) is a great place for your child to enjoy their first skiing experience and also provides a great environment for them to improve their skills from the year before. Head to the special children's terrain park, where the kids will enjoy an action-packed day of everything from games, tuition and surprise visits from Pete the Snow Dragon to lunchtime and yummy snacks.
Open all year round and 7 days a week during the ski season, Falls Creek Child Care is located in the St Falls complex in Slalom Plaza.
Mt Buller
Specialised kids' instructors give two-hour lessons and the class has access to seven beginner lifts. They learn how to stop, turn and ride lifts.
The Bunyip program for kids aged three to six ensures your child learns the ropes in a safe and secure environment. Here they'll discover the Magic Forest, featuring two magic carpets to make learning a breeze. The Buller Kids program caters for seven to 14 year olds and offers six hours of supervised activities, a lift pass, hot lunch and games (half day options are also available).
Mt Baw Baw
There are no child care facilities available on Mt Baw Baw, however, the resort's qualified SnowSports Team deliver specialised lessons to suit children of all ages based involving either one-on-one instruction or group lessons.
Sign the kids up for the SnowSports team where they'll make new friends and enjoy good old fashioned snowplay. Children aged 3-6 can take part in three-hour lessons with Rowdy's Rippers (skiing) or Gully's Groms (snowboarding), while the 7-12s rip into a six-hour ski or snowboard session with Frosty's Kids.
