Where surfing legends are made
The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach brings the world's best male and female surfers to the legendary surf break on the Great Ocean Road.
The World Surf League event holds a very special place in surfing folklore, as the longest running world championship level contest on the World Tour.
It is tradition that the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach waiting period includes the Easter long weekend. But it’s impossible to predict exactly which days the Rip Curl Pro will be held until closer to the event window. The competition will run in the best swell conditions between the event dates and you’ll need to check the World Surf League website or social media accounts each morning to know if the event is on.
There’s plenty to keep you occupied while you’re waiting for the surfing to start. The Great Ocean Road is one of the world’s best coastal drives. Quaint seaside towns and stunning walks atop rugged sea cliffs and through lushly forested hinterland await. And the city of Melbourne, with its world-class coffee shops, diverse range of restaurants and art-covered laneways, is just 90 minutes’ drive away.
