Experience Melbourne in all its winter glory, as RISING returns to the city. This year, the festival will run over 12 nights from 7 to 18 June, with an extensive program of free and ticketed events. These will take place in spaces across the heart of Melbourne, from the Arts Precinct to Birrarung (the Yarra River), Flinders Street Station and within gothic St Paul's Cathedral.
Rug up for choral performance Consort of the Moon at Twilight in Fitzroy Gardens. Join in or let the music wash over you. Stand within a circle of screens displaying a life-sized choir, while jazz drummers battle it out from above, as part of Euphoria in Melbourne Town Hall.
Pull on a pair of ice-skates and glide along the massive Rink on the banks of Birrarung Marr, under a constellation of glittering lights.
Book a ticket to Shadow Spirit, an exhibit that warps time and combines song and ceremony. Curated by First Peoples artists, you'll find it on the upper floors and ballroom of Flinders Street Station.
Traverse a music program spanning the globe from the USA to Japan, South Africa to North London. Highlights include Weyes Blood and Paul Kelly performing at The Forum. Engage with story through movement with Buŋgul, Tracker and shock-horror show TANZ.
