Darby River - Tongue Point - Darby Saddle - Squeaky Beach
Your first stop is the Prom’s most famous beach, enjoy walking along pristine white sands of Squeaky Beach (it really does Squeak) and see the pretty lichen covered boulders, a great place to enjoy lunch. Afterwards you will walk from Darby River to Tongue Point and then on to Darby Saddle offering magnificent forest and coastal scenery.
Descend steeply through flow-dotted coastal heathland to beautiful Tongue Point a head land jewelled with tumbled boulders of weathered granite. Walk through stunning casuarina and stringybark forests and discover amazing views of the pyramid-shaped Rodondo Island from Sparkes Lookout before reaching Darby Saddle.
From there you will transfer to your luxury accommodation at the Church House Gourmet Retreat with 270-degree views of rolling hills, Wilsons Promontory and glimpses of Bass Strait. After a hot and cold breakfast, an early morning transfer will take you to your cruise boat to enjoy a spectacular cruise to Wilsons Promontory. This morning you will appreciate the beauty of the Marine Park from the sea as you cruise to Wilsons Promontory.
From there you will head to the stunning secluded area of Refuge Cove where the boat drops the tour off on the beach and you can commence your one way walk via Sealers Cove inland to the vehicle. Sealers Cove is stunning, with one of the best beaches in the National Park. From there the tour will follow a boardwalk for two kilometres through Sealers Swamp. The landscape changes as you walk through a trail surrounded by giant tree ferns which climb steadily to Windy Saddle.
The last section of the walk is an easy downhill of three kilometres to Telegraph Saddle where the vehicle waits to collect you. Afterwards you will return to your accommodation for a wonderful dinner accompanied by local wines. Why not enjoy a hot spa on the deck taking in the spectacular views of the Prom and Bass Strait? One of the favourite walks in the park for many of the park rangers in this area, this walk has animals that are not afraid of people and you may well encounter wombats and wallabies along the way. Meander through open banksia woodland and through forests of stringy bark, before heading up the tower-like granite boulder ridge to Vereker Lookout to take in awe inspiring views over the northern section of Wilsons Promontory.
From this location you will be rewarded with magnificent views of Darby Saddle, Yanakie Isthmus, Shellback Island, Corner Inlet and Cotter Beach and much more. Mangroves can be seen at Millers Landing as well as kangaroos, wallabies and sometimes even emus. After the walk you will head to Waratah Hills winery for a wonderful celebratory lunch and wine tasting with stunning views over the rolling winery hills. Afterwards, the tour returns to Melbourne the end of a wonderful journey.
