Branch Out: Hunters and Collectors

Meet at the Visitor Centre, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Melbourne Gardens, Birdwood Avenue, South Yarra, Victoria, 3141
25 Jun 2020

Venture into the Australian Forest Walk with its curators and discover what takes place on a plant gathering trip in the modern era. In days of old, botanists such as Joseph Banks rose to international fame for their collecting expeditions. Today, plant experts search the wilds for specimens that will help to ‘future proof’ the Gardens for generations to come. Hear from horticulture Team Leader Therese Turner and Curator Gemma Cotterell on how they decide which plants enter the collection and chat all things plants over a cup of lemon myrtle tea.

This program is presented as part of Branch Out: Experiences in the Gardens for the Over 60s, in partnership with Regis Aged Care.
