Overview

With a stunning coastline stretching for hundreds of kilometres, fertile farmland, celebrated restaurants and wineries, there's lots for foodies and wine lovers to get excited about.

Choose your own adventure

Dig into freshly caught seafood straight out of the Southern Ocean and time your visit to coincide with the annual Apollo Bay Seafood Festival. Sample gourmet delights along the Otway Harvest Trail and the 12 Apostles Gourmet Trail. Pop into craft breweries and cool climate wineries or check out the new artisanal distillery near the 12 Apostles. Alternatively, just while away the days at seaside cafes up and down the coast.

First-rate dining and fruits of the earth

Let someone else do the cooking and enjoy friendly hospitality and outstanding dining experiences at any number of award-winning local restaurants, or at casual cafes and country tearooms.

Plan well ahead and nab a golden ticket to dine at Dan Hunter's inimitable Brae, a renowned Good Food Guide Three Hat restaurant. Chris's Restaurant and a la grecque are just two of the other hot ticket options in a region rich with fine dining choices.

Visit one of the many produce vendors or get into the hustle and bustle of the local markets to pick up fresh fruits, berries and olives, grown just around the corner. Savour mouth-watering local delicacies such as regionally produced cheeses, homemade bread and ice cream. In June and July, sniff out stalls selling truffles or join a hunt at one of Victoria's oldest truffieres.

Through the vines

Call in to a cellar door at one of the vineyards in the Henty wine region. Located in the state's southwest corner, the region is the perfect spot for fans of cool climate varietals like pinot noir and riesling.
