Overview
Be enchanted by Victoria's south-west. The breathtaking coastline around Port Campbell, Port Fairy and Warrnambool includes some of the state's (and the country's) most famous landmarks. 12 Apostles
Witness the rugged splendour of the famous 12 Apostles, magnificent rock stacks that rise up majestically from the Southern Ocean on Victoria's dramatic coastline. After taking in the above water beauty, dive underneath to see spectacular arches, canyons, fissures, gutters and deep sloping reefs.
Hike with a view
Hike along cliff tops through coastal scrubland, and low heath to Glenample, and be rewarded with spectacular views of the 12 Apostles. Kangaroos are regular grazers in nearby paddocks, and pods of dolphins can sometimes be seen in the Marine National Park below.
Beachside whale-watching
Almost every year between June and September, female Southern Right whales return to the waters of Warrnambool’s Logans Beach to calve. The whales often swim within a hundred metres of the shore and can be viewed from a specially constructed platform in the sand dunes or from the beach.
Beach bound
The Bay of Island Coastal Park has outstanding ocean views and geological features. Sheer cliffs and rock stacks dominate the bays, and heathlands display colourful spring wildflowers. Beaches are accessible at some points.
Local food and drink
The south-west is home to plenty of top-class local producers. Take a quick detour to Timboon for cheese from Timboon Cheesery, whiskey, vodka and more from Timboon Railway Shed Distillery and natural, premium ice cream from Timboon Fine Ice Cream. In Cooriemungle, food lovers will find joy at Apostle Whey Cheese and G.O.R.G.E. Chocolates.
