Overview
Discover the serene inland lakes and sparkling waterways of the Grampians region. Set up camp beside tranquil waters, bring the fishing boat for an extended trout expedition, or paddle around the reeds and rushes in a canoe.
All in the family
Whether you're visiting during the cooler months or holidaying in wintertime, the local lakes and waterways offer plenty for the whole family. Swim and splash about with the kids during the summer, get everyone together for a waterside picnic, or just enjoy a bush walk around the water's edge.
Paddling adventures
Canoeing is a popular pastime with locals and visitors alike, with opportunities at Lake Bellfield, Lake Wartook and the Glenelg River in the west. Hire canoes from local operators, or bring your own and hit the waterways for a day trip or multi-day adventure. Camping facilities are available across the Grampians and most facilities are available all year round (weather permitting). See the Parks Victoria website for details.
Angler's delight
Join avid anglers and hobbyists in casting a line in lakes Bellfield, Wartook and Fyans, which are all well-stocked fishing grounds that boast large populations of trout and redfin. Bring your boat, cast a line from the shore or wander in for some fly-fishing. For those that prefer the river experience, head west and pick a spot along the Glenelg River. Always check local advice for boating restrictions.
