Tour highlights:
  • Aunty Jacks Brewery
We have lunch, a brewery tour and Beer tastings at Aunty Jacks, a lovely Brew Pub newly opened in Ballarat. It is the place to visit to learn everything about Beer with an in-house education class, whilst celebrating the artisan craft of brewing and learning about sustainable agriculture. Creating beautiful beer such as Pale Ale, Stout and Lager. The Brewery and eating Hall has a lovely warm welcoming feel with very friendly Staff. They also offer a simple, yet delicious food menu, well paired with their beers. A great place to visit.
  • Red Duck Brewery and Kilderkin Distillery
We visit Red Duck Brewery and Kilderkin Distillery for brewery/ distillery tour and tasting. Opened in 2005 by Scott and wife Vanessa after they left Melbourne for a change of pace, and named after the Shelducks that inhabit Lake Purrumbete close to the original brewery, Red Duck was for a while the only brewery between Geelong and Adelaide. Using a self-designed system that has been steadily expanded, the focus outside the core range is on small batch brewing: many releases are only produced in 500 litre batches; many of the barrel aged beers are scarcer still.
  • Cubby Haus Brewery
Cubby Haus Brewing commenced operation in July 2016 with a tasting room opening in September. They are a small craft brewery and pizza restaurant located in Mount Pleasant, Ballarat, a short distance from Sovereign Hill. Cubby Haus create small batch classic style beers as well as innovative contemporary interpretations. All their beers are made with natural ingredients and traditional processes. The hand-built 500 litre brew house and 3 fermenters produce 6 core beers and an ever expanding list of seasonals. Many of their beers are based on traditional styles from around the world leaving plenty of scope for single batch experimentals. The brew house was designed to be capable of producing multi-stepped brews and traditional decoctions giving them the flexibility to produce beers true to style. All of their beers are unfiltered, naturally conditioned and chemical free.
