Discover the wealth of public art works along the Geelong waterfront, from the whimsical Baywalk Bollards to the Cargo Boxes and Paving Splats.

Baywalk Bollards

More than 100 sculptured bollards are installed around the Geelong waterfront. The much-photographed and beloved bollards chronicle characters from the city's past and present, including dapper young ladies in neck-to-knee bathing costumes, 1930s lifesavers, a Geelong footballer, jaunty sailors, fishermen and a town band.

Cargo Boxes

Cargo Boxes (2000) by artists Maggie Fookes and Bill Perrin is a series of brass and glass boxes containing sculptures and artefacts recognising early imports into Geelong. Internal lighting creates a stunning night feature.

Paving Splats

Paving Splats (2000), also by Maggie Fookes and Bill Perrin, lie 'splattered' around the central waterfront precinct as pavement inlays. The splats are made of stainless steel with cast inlays depicting imported and locally made objects.

Barcode Fountain

The Barcode Fountain incorporates a barcode from a truly original and iconic Geelong product: Noddy's Soft Drink. The original barcode is reproduced on the stainless steel panels of the feature, which also incorporates strip lighting.

North

North by artist Mark Stoner (2000) consists of seven cement objects resembling sails or fins that vary in size from 2.2 to 3.5 metres high. No two fins are positioned on the same plane, and by moving within and around the sculpture the profiles change quite dramatically.
