1. Olinda

2. Jamieson

3. Coldstream

4. Moe

While Walhalla and Buchan are popular for their autumn colours, the tiny town of Moe is a lesser-known gem in western Gippsland, and a gateway to some pretty spectacular national parks. Step back in time and walk the streets of 1850s Gippsland at Old Gippstown or visit Moe Botanical Gardens in the centre of town to frolic in the autumn leaves.

5. Mount Macedon

6. Daylesford

7. Warburton

An easy drive from Melbourne, the town of Warburton is another popular destination for admiring autumn leaves in all their splendour. Follow the Yarra River as it meanders through the picturesque Warburton Valley on a leisurely riverside walk or cycle into town along the Lilydale to Warburton rail trail.

8. Marysville

Come autumn time, the elm trees lining Murchison Street in High Country’s Marysville turn a blaze of deep orange shades. Wander the town to discover the quirky sculpture garden and pop into Fraga’s Cafe for hearty homemade meals.

9. Walhalla
