With a feature-packed 243 kilometres to traverse between Torquay and Port Fairy, exploring the Great Ocean Road is bound to bring on the need for a feed. Whether you're stepping off the beach or exploring beyond, decent tucker and/or a refreshing beverage isn't too far away. Starting at the road's easternmost point and heading steadily west, these are some of the top options.

1.Totti's Lorne

Lorne Hotel is now host to Totti's Lorne, a local Italian diner which is all about enjoying simple, authentic food that will make you feel like you're by the beach during a sun-drenched European summer.

2. Blackman's Brewery

You can't do anything more Torquay than step off the adjacent back beach and cross the road with surfboard in hand to rustle up one of Blackman's Brewery's selection of ales or lagers, and some beer-friendly bites. It'd be anti-social not to.

3. Bellbrae Estate

A stone's throw from world-famous Bells Beach you'll find Bellbrae Estate, where you can enjoy tasting critically acclaimed wines paired with the likes of tapas and wood-fired pizza.

4. Great Ocean Road Gin Kitchen

A new favourite stop at Aireys Inlet. Get down to some serious sipping in the Tasting Room or wander next door to the Kitchen, a beautiful bar-style space offering a South East Asian inspired menu that you can bet will perfectly complement your fave gin tipple.

5. Jums Chicken

An Anglesea institution is chips 'n gravy from Jums, although there's also chicken rolls, schnitty burgers and whole roasted free-range chicken to choose from.

Lorne's IPSOS is a popular spot for fresh Mediterranean meals. About two hours' drive from Melbourne, Lorne is also a great pitstop and has plenty of accommodation to choose from.

7. Wye River General Store

This roadside staple has the best coffee on the coast. The Wye River General Store is great for breakfast, lunch and provisions, with casual meals served all day.

8. Chris's Beacon Point Restaurant

Head slightly inland at Skenes Creek for fine dining at Chris's Beacon Point restaurant. The views are stunning and there's accommodation if you can't bear to leave.

9. Great Ocean Road Brewhouse

The Great Ocean Road Brewhouse serves its own craft beer with a selection of 100 brews on offer at their dog-friendly tasting room. Pair a frothy with one of their produce platters featuring the area's finest treats.

10. Kermond's Hamburgers, Port Fairy

Born in Warrnambool over 70 years ago and recently opened in idyllic Port Fairy, Kermond's award-winning burgers never disappoint. A great way to finish off any day on the Great Ocean Road.
