Start north-west of the town centre to check out Billson's Brewery, a restored 1865 establishment with beer garden, tasting room, tap room and bar.

Head towards town to dine (with a booking) at hatted Provenance, Beechworth's acclaimed east-meets-west contemporary restaurant.

If it's time for tea and scones, head to Moments and Memories Tea Rooms. If it feels like wine o'clock, head down the street to the Empire Hotel for modern pub food with a local wine list. Beer o'clock again? Continue along the main street to Bridge Road Brewers, beloved for craft beer, pizza and pretzels.

There's plenty of buzz at the Beechworth Honey Shop, where you can spy on a hive and taste dozens of different honey varieties.

Head south on Church Street, through parkland and on to the Beechworth–Everton Rail Trail. Turn right to pedal or walk the 2.5 kilometres to Pennyweight Winery, best known for biodynamic fortified wines. 4km
