Overview

Make the most of the Murray region's flat terrain by getting around on your bike. Take off on leisurely rides following the river or pick up the pace and go off-road. Join multi-day races, charity rides and adrenalin-charged mountain bike adventures.

River trails

Hire a bike or bring your own and cycle the many scenic riverside trails along the Murray River. Cruise along the Echuca Moama Food and Wine Trail or pedal along riverside paths in Shepparton, Swan Hill and Mildura. If you're feeling fit, try the High Country Rail Trail. The 64-kilometre return journey runs from Bonegilla to Tallangatta and skirts around scenic Lake Hume.

Venture further afield through national parks, and on past rolling vineyards and orange groves. Get up close to the region's stunning pink lakes, sand dunes, billabongs and wetlands.

Pick up the pace

Charge up undulating hills and race down mountain trails on your own, or sign up to the Port to Port Cycling Tour. This takes you through national parks and rolling vineyards from Mildura to Swan Hill, finishing up in Echuca. Competitive cyclists will love the exhilarating Tour of the Murray River, a six-day, seven-stage road tour that kicks off in Mildura and finishes at Yarrawonga.

My side of the mountain

Head off to the Murray Valley National Park in Moama and ride among picturesque red gums on the Five Mile mountain bike trail (7 kilometres each way). The trail features purpose-build walls, jumps and a pump track that suits all skill levels. If you're in the Albury Wodonga region, unload your bike at Nail Can Hill Reserve and choose from the range of trails on offer.
