Launched in 1990, the annual Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues is one of Australia's biggest regional music events and is acclaimed by fans, musicians and critics as Australia's premier jazz festival.
The festival is proud to have won the Victorian Tourism Award for regional events three times, and the Australian Tourism Award in 1999 for Regional Festivals of Events.
The Festival is held over three days on the weekend prior to Melbourne Cup, boasting a world class program of local and international jazz and blues artists performing at venues ranging from the Performing Arts Centre to street and garden stages. Ford Street is the festival hub with food/wine vendors, markets, free music and entertainment.
This year’s program boasts more than 300 artists performing over 80 concerts at eight venues, all within an easy stroll around the picturesque north-east Victorian town. Headliners include the Yuri Honing Quartet (Netherlands), making a welcome return to the festival, and Indigenous Australian jazz vocalist, Wilma Reading, whose international career highlights include touring with the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
So what are you waiting for? Head to the 29th Festival on November 2 to 4 to savour world-class music, wines and produce.
