Overview

Gippsland has over 500 kilometres of coastline, so there are plenty of fishing opportunities. Picking a good spot requires a bit of local know-how, however, so we've rounded up some of the well-known 'hot spots' below.

Corinella and Western Port

Head out from Corinella to fish Western Port for flathead, snapper, gummy sharks, mullet and more.

Wonthaggi, Kilcunda and surrounds

There are many popular surf fishing locations near Wonthaggi, including Kilcunda and Baxter's Beach.

Inverloch and surrounds

Try for King George whiting, Australian salmon, mullet and silver trevally from sheltered beaches near Inverloch.

Venus Bay

Wet a line for flathead, salmon, tailor, whiting and trevally at Andersons Inlet and Venus Bay.

Port Welshpool

From the shores of this coastal village you can find popular flathead, snapper or gummy sharks.

Ninety Mile Beach, Woodside Beach, Seaspray, Golden Beach

Ninety Mile Beach and surrounds are popular at night during winter, that's when fishing is at its best.
