Explore the heart of Snowy River country from Orbost, a small East Gippsland town surrounded by national parks, forests and beaches.
Recharge at the town's cafes and bakeries, then visit galleries and see the historical Slab Hut, an original 1872 pioneer hut relocated from the upper Snowy River and now home to the tourist information centre. Renowned local brewers Sailors Grave can be found in an old butter factory, where they produce an exciting range of craft beer. Keep an eye out for their events and sample their inventive brews in restaurants and pubs throughout the region.
Stunning surrounds
See dramatic coastlines, sheltered bays, and endless golden beaches at Cape Conran Coastal Park – a good access point for offshore fishing. The nearby town of Marlo is a popular place for river and estuary fishing, water-based activities and relaxing on the beach.
Into the national park
Take a drive into the Snowy River National Park through tall forests to get a good look at the Little River Gorge – Victoria's deepest gorge – and Little River Falls, a 600-metre high waterfall.
