Overview

Get off the highway and take some time out in the historic military and rail service township of Seymour, on the lands of the Taungurung people and situated on the leafy banks of the winding Goulburn River.

Listen to the birds and watch out for local wildlife on the Goulburn River Walk or delve into the town's history at the Australian Light Horse Memorial Park and Vietnam Veterans' Commemorative Walk.

Take a tour of the old carriages and locomotives at the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre. Pull up a stool and enjoy a brew at Seymour's Royal Hotel, which, in the 1940s, came to prominence with its depiction in artist Russell Drysdale's painting Moody's pub.

Break your journey here and admire the facades of the Old Post Office and the Old Courthouse as you stretch your legs.

Visit in Autumn for the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo. Sample great local grub and enjoy a fun and informative day for both adults and kids alike. Get DIY tips, learn about sustainable farming and animal breeding, and even pick up a new craft or two.
