The Red Hill Brewery is the first micro-brewery on the Mornington Peninsula. Set amidst the hop vines, in a beautiful rural environment, taste the range of award winning beers on one of our tasting paddles, stay for a delicious beer-friendly meal or purchase fine handcrafted ales to take home.

The Brewery is unique as it has its own hop yard where all the hops are grown on-site to use in the beers. The hops are a dramatic spectacle, growing over four metres high, and on full display to visitors to the brewery. Using their own hops imparts fresh and unique hop flavours and aromas to their beers.

There are three main beer styles, Golden Ale, Wheat Beer and Scotch Ale. All are handcrafted using only water, the finest malt, yeast and the estate grown hops.

The fourth tap features the sensational seasonal brews that are ever-changing. In December, try the spicy Belgian Abbey Christmas Ale, over winter sink into some dark warming ales such as their IBA, Gold medal winning Imperial Stout or unusual dark wheat beer Weizenbock. There is always something new to try.

Set in a beautiful rural environment, the Red Hill Brewery has a small eatery committed to serving real food. The food is influenced by the cuisines of the great beer loving nations of England, Belgium and Germany where the favourite dishes have developed over centuries according to how well they match the famous beer styles. Local produce is featured on the menu and all the food is made in house.

Red Hill Brewery Scotch Ale - Perfect for Cool Autumn Weather
The nights are getting chilly, the first rains of autumn are here and the mushrooms are popping up all over Red Hill. The weather is now ideal for a warming winter style Ale. The Red Hill Brewery has just released its Scotch Ale, at 5.8% Alcohol, it is just the thing to warm the cockles of your heart on a cool autumn's day. The colour, a deep reddish, burnished copper, reflects the warm reds I see in the autumn leaves that are still on the trees in the backyard. This style of Ale was historically considered to be the "Burgundy of Scotland" due to its subtle hopping, its sweet, smoky flavours and red colouring. Scotland, being a long way from the hop fields of Kent, had limited access to hops and a limited desire to do business with the Saxons of England. This resulted in Scotch Ales being brewed with very low levels of hops. It is the grain that drives the flavours of this Ale. The brewer's tightest kept secret is the grain recipe that is used to make the Scotch Ale. Six different types of malt are used in the recipe, ranging from the pale English style to the darkest roasted barley. It is these dark grains that impart the toffee and caramel, sweet smoky flavours to the Ale. Currently, the most popular dish on the menu is the Scotch Ale and Beef Pot Pie, the Ale imparts wonderful rich flavours through the pie. Like Pinot Noir, the Scotch Ale is a perfect match for Duck and the wild mushrooms that are prolific in Red Hill during autumn.
