Opening hours also vary for the Australian Mediatheque. ACMI is closed on Christmas Day and open from 1pm on ANZAC Day.

Disabled access

ParkingFor access to ACMI, there are two accessible car spaces on each level of the Fed Square car park.Street parking for people with appropriate permits is located at the corner of Degraves Street and Flinders Street, on Flinders Lane between Elizabeth Street and Exhibition Street and outside the Arts Centre. Entering ACMIThere are two entry points to ACMI for visitors who require wheelchair access. The main entrance is from the Fed Square plaza. There is also an accessibility entrance located at the Flinders Street facade where a lift can take visitors up to the Entry Level.LiftsThe central lift provides disabled access to the Cinemas Level. Cinema 1 has an internal lift that takes visitors to the back row of the auditorium where two reserved wheelchair spaces are available. Cinema 2 has four wheelchair spaces available at the rear.The lift opposite the Australian Mediatheque provides disabled access down to the Galleries Level.Gallery 1 is accessed via a lift located near the entrance stairs. WheelchairsWheelchairs are available for use within ACMI. Present your identification at the Tickets & Information Desk on the Entry Level to borrow a wheelchair free of charge. Wheelchair access is available in all of our gallery spaces, cinemas and studios. Assistive Listening DevicesAssistive listening devices are available for use in the ACMI cinemas and Studio 1. The devices use standard headphones or can connect with your hearing aid via a neck loop. Present your identification at the Tickets & Information Desk on the Entry Level to borrow a device free of charge. Guide Dogs and other registered assistance dogs are welcome at ACMI. Toilets and infant roomMale and female amenities with wheelchair access are available to the right of the escalators on the Entry Level, on the Galleries Level next to the Schools’ Entrance area and inside Gallery 1. Companion and carer supportCompanion Card holders can obtain free access to ACMI programs. We accept Companion Cards registered in Victoria and interstate. Visually impaired warning markersThese are located on the floor before each step to provide a clear signal of a change of level.
