Mornington Peninsula shines the glasses and cutlery for the 2008 Harvest to Table Festival

Friday February 29 – Monday March 10, 2008  

It will be minimum food miles with maximum taste and freshness when the Mornington Peninsula’s annual Harvest to Table festival showcases local produce at more than 20 events from Friday February 29 until Victoria’s long weekend on Monday March 10.  

At least half a dozen wineries will be presenting Peninsula produce platters; the Red Hill Long Lunch involves top local producers, chefs and wineries in a showcase 3-course meal; and chef James Redfern of Vines of Red Hill will be taking visitors to the Red Hill Market to buy ingredients for their ‘Menu Spontanee’ lunch.   

Highlights of the festival include:   Red Hill Long Lunch, February 29, 11:30am A truly regional showcase, as seven chefs and 12 wineries work with local producers to create a superb 3-course meal on one long table under the shade of the Small Woodland at Ashcombe Maze and Lavender Gardens. $90, bookings essential, 03 5989 8387.    

‘Menu Spontanee’, Vines Of Red Hill, March 1, 7.30am Meet James Redfern, chef of Vines of Red Hill restaurant, for coffee at 7:30am, then accompany him to the famous Red Hill Market as he shops for your lunch. $70 per person includes coffee, market tour and 3-course lunch, bookings essential, (03) 5989 2977.  

High Time for High Tea at Woodman Estate, March 2 and 9, from 3:30pm  A classic High Tea at Woodman Estate, where traditional cake stands are filled with delicious sandwiches, slices and decadent cakes, and steaming hot scones are served with jam and cream. George’s Culinary Retreat - Group Getaway, March 5 - 7 George’s Luxury B&B and Culinary Retreat brings together the magnificent offerings of the Mornington Peninsula, including exquisite food, wine (wine tour included), contemporary accommodation and entertaining and educational cooking classes by rising star chef Duncan White-Robertson. $520 per person (maximum of eight people), including gourmet breakfast and two lunches, gourmet dinner, all beverages, guest sommelier, three cooking classes with recipes, wine tour and one night’s accommodation.
