Melbourne Food and Wine Festival presented by The Age is a unique event promoting the quality produce, talent and lifestyle of Melbourne and the State of Victoria. Each year the Festival attracts food and wine experts from across the world, including world-renowned chefs and winemakers, growers, purveyors, authors, food and wine commentators and critics who present alongside Australia's best. From 7 March - 23 March, 2009, food and wine devotees will once more descend upon Melbourne to have their pleasure thresholds heightened at over 220 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival events. In 2009, the Festival – the largest of its kind anywhere in the world – shimmers with its most impressive line up yet of the culinary world's stars. Expect gastronomic superstars and famed winemakers to spangle the events program. Spanning five distinct themes – City's Alive, Gastronomy, World's Longest Lunches, Slow Food and Regions Alive – the Festival delivers tantalising events for every level of enthusiast, from discerning bon vivier to noshing novice. The Great Aussie BBQ, join 1,000 other diners at the World's Longest Lunch, browse Victoria's most delicious produce at the Slow Food Marketplace or explore Victoria's picturesque locations at one of the Festival's regional events.
