Beaufort

Beaufort Rotunda

Beaufort, located on the Western Highway just 30 minutes west of Ballarat, is a great place to try local produce and Pyrenees wines.

Food and wine
The main street of the town is dotted with small cafes and trattorias offering local produce. Throughout the year the wineries in the region offer menus designed by top chefs to complement specially selected wines from the Pyrenees region.

Some vineyards also offer live music and theatre shows and, for an alternative perspective on the region, the Rainbow Serpent Festival presents a summer long weekend of music, art, performance, spiritual education, relaxation and healing.

Parks and forests
With Mount Buangor State Park and Mount Cole State Forest in the vicinity, as well as three other state parks nearby and the Grampians National Park not much further on, the limits to adventure lie only in your imagination.

The area around Mount Cole is scattered with fire places and huts for shelter and offers the perfect camping environment and walks ranging from 20 minutes to two days.

Events

  • Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally – May and October
  • Rainbow Serpent Festival – January.
