Take it slow and meander through the old mining township. Step over original bluestone gutters to see the elaborate façades built during the nineteenth century gold rush. Guide yourself, or follow the Historic Buildings Street Walk.

Discover the village's secrets direct from locals in museums, antique stores and craft galleries, while admiring the ornate shops with their original fittings.

Gold rush history
Dig for gold rush history with an underground tour of the Karrs Reef Gold Mine and at the historic local cemetery, notable for its large section of graves devoted to Chinese gold miners.

Indulge your senses at the nearby Lavender Farm, and walk or drive through the picturesque Yackandandah Gorge. Spot native birds and animals in the bushland, or go bushwalking and horse riding.

Food and wine
Enjoy hearty meals in real country pubs, then roll out to take advantage of Yackandandah's location on the edge of the fertile Kiewa Valley. Stop at boutique wineries and fill your boot with local meats, fruit, nuts, honey and preserves.
