Bourke Street Mall

Bourke Street Mall

The Bourke Street Mall is always bustling with shoppers, buskers and city workers. Located between Swanston and Elizabeth streets, the short pedestrian and tram-only strip is recognised as Melbourne's retail heart, with big department stores together with an array of flagship stores such as Forever New, Sportsgirl and Supré, and music, jewellery, shoes and novelties.

David Jones and Myer
Here you'll find Melbourne's two main department stores. David Jones occupies three buildings: one dedicated to women's fashion, cosmetics, shoes and accessories; one featuring menswear, children's wear and a food hall; and the Home Store which is all about homewares and bedding. Myer has everything from designer label shoes and clothing, latest fashions and streetwear, a vast variety of top label cosmetics, perfumes and aftershaves to homewares, electronics and children's toys.

Melbourne's GPO
Next door to Myer on the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth streets is Melbourne's GPO. The original postal building was opened in 1864. Refurbished and reopened in 2004, the GPO is a sophisticated and contemporary retail experience showcasing the absolute best in fashion, luxury goods and dining. Look out for shops such as Belinda, Gorman, Leona Edmiston, Mimco, Wayne Cooper, Ben Sherman, Max & Co, Georg Jensen, Camper, Akira, Cacao Fine Chocolate & Patisserie plus delicious eateries in GPO Lane.

Visitor information
The Melbourne Visitor Booth is midway along the Mall, with friendly volunteers and staff who can assist you with directions, shopping and ideas about things to do in and around the city.
