Beechworth wine region
The Beechworth wine region lies at the footfills of the Victorian Alps, and surrounding the beautifully restored town of Beechworth.
The first vines in this region were planted in 1856 and within 10 years a wine shop had opened selling local wines. By the end of the World War I all vines had gone, victim to both the economic times and phylloxera. Today the region's small vineyards produce chardonnay, pinot noir and other cool climate varieties.
