Camping
Camping is a great way to experience nature and to save on your accommodation expenses. Victoria offers a range of natural landscapes and environments, from high country wilderness, to the desert outback of the west as well as the lakes, beaches and rivers across the state.
Tourist parks
For those who like some of the comforts of home (such as running water and flushing toilets), many of Victoria’s tourist parks offer grassed tent sites, camp kitchens and barbecues, toilet and shower amenities, laundry services and electricity.
Bush camping
For those who prefer to rough it, many of the state’s parks and reserves provide camping areas for public use, catering for families and first time campers to the experienced outdoor adventurer.
Restrictions sometimes apply to camping in public areas such as roadside rest areas and foreshore reserves. Check with local authorities before camping overnight on public land that is not a designated camping area.
Car-based camping is available in many of Victoria’s parks and reserves, while some sites can only be reached on foot.
