  • Shrine of Remembrance war memorial

Take a leisurely stroll along this majestic tree-lined boulevard or jump aboard one of Melbourne's famous trams and you will see some of the city's most beautiful parks, memorials, and prestige apartments.

The gardens around St Kilda Road are a delight to explore. Beautiful landscapes and colourful flower beds, including a floral clock, fountains, statues, and picturesque walking paths provide a peaceful sanctuary in which to relax, explore and take in Melbourne's renowned parklands.

The St Kilda Road parks include the Alexander Gardens with their rowing sheds and magnificent palm trees, Fawkner Park, with its various public sports grounds, and the Domain Parklands, home to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, an outdoor performance venue with a distinctive white shell-shaped roof that seats 15,000 and opens onto a lawn.

Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens are some of the world's finest and should not be missed. The gardens feature lakes, observatories, and the Australian Rainforest Walk, are home to over 12,000 different species of plants and a natural sanctuary for native wildlife. The legendary running track around its edge, the Tan, attracts morning joggers and during summer months the gardens host theatre performances and the Moonlight Cinema, an outdoor cinema with twilight screenings of classic and cult movies.

Other places of note include the magnificent Shrine of Remembrance, a war memorial and unmistakable city landmark. Climb to the balcony at the top for wonderful views of the city. The historic Victoria Barracks are also located along St Kilda Road and, in March each year, the St Kilda Road precinct hosts the free family festival, Melbourne Moomba Waterfest.
