Old and new

Visit the birthplace of Australian Modernism at Melbourne's Heide Museum of Modern Art. Here, works by the young guns of Australian art sit alongside a permanent collection featuring works by artists Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd, Albert Tucker.

Split up between two venues, the National Gallery of Victoria is the centrepiece of Melbourne's arts precinct. The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia at Federation Square exhibits pieces from the gallery's collection of Australian art. NGV International on St Kilda Road is home to the Melbourne Winter Masters and plays host to numerous concerts, art walks, talks and workshops.
