No need to decide between a river cruise or a beach getaway when you can have both at the twin towns of Cobram and Barooga, located on either side of the Murray River. Work up an appetite on the golf courses and fishing spots before sampling amazing local produce from surrounding farms.

Riverside getaway

Relax and recharge on the stretches of sandy river beaches between Yarrawonga and Barmah. Thompson's Beach, Australia's largest inland beach is shaded by towering river red gums during the day and is floodlit in the evenings. Enjoy fresh local fare from the Beach Cafe and then settle in for an afternoon of fishing, water-skiing or canoeing. Hire a houseboat from Coobram Barooga Boat Hire and live on the water as you move to a different beach each day, or walk around Quinn Island to see the abundant wildlife.

Tee off on the greens

Play a round of golf at the Cobram Barooga Golf Club's famous Old Course or at the modern links-style West Course for wider fairways and larger greens. Alternatively, head off to the Barooga Sports Club to try out the 18-hole golf course and bowling green for a quiet game of bowls.

Gourmet country

Situated in the heart of Victoria's 'food bowl' and the largest stone fruit producing area in Australia, Cobram is home to the familiar Murray Goulburn – Devondale dairy brand. Set out along the Farm Gate Trail for local produce, direct from the producers. Foodies will have a chance to stock up on strawberries, cheese, stone fruit and citrus, and then sample award winning wines at local cellar doors.
