See royal spoonbills, swans and straw-necked ibises, as well as the million-strong colony of migrating shearwaters (mutton birds) inbound from Alaska. Travel inland to the local trout farm, where the kids can catch their own dinner and learn about the ancient ways of the Koorie culture on the bush tucker trail.
Hire a boat or charter a fishing expedition and reel in some of Western Port's bounty, including flathead, snapper and whiting. Boat owners can access the excellent all-tide boat ramp, while land lovers can barbeque on the foreshore to the sounds of water lapping on the sand.
