With the South West Coastal Birdwatching Experience, Melbourne Birding Tours will take you to unique coastal heathland, ironbark forests, ocean beaches and the famous Western Treatment Plant.

South west of Melbourne you will find some of the best birding destinations in Australia.

Starting at 6am, however other times can be arranged. Melbourne Birding Tours travel to Point Addis where their first target will be the Rufous Bristlebird. Other birds you may find here include Australasian Gannet, Black-browed Albatross, Singing Honeyeater, Silvereye, Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater and more.

Travelling to the Anglesea Heathland, famous for its diverse vegetation and for bird species which are heathland specialists such as the shy Southern Emu Wren. Other birds that may be encountered include the Chestnut-rumped Heathwren, Gang-gang Cockatoo and Rufous Whistler. At the nearby Ironbark forest you may see Crimson Rosella, Crescent Honeyeater, White-eared Honeyeater, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and White-plumed Honeyeaters to name a few.

Next stop is the Western Treatment Plant, internationally recognised RAMSAR site, considered to be one of the best birding locations in Australia and a mecca for shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors and seabirds. Finishing around 5:00pm (later finishing times available).

Tour routes may be altered on days of high bushfire risk.
