Housed in the historic Former Royal Mint building, the Museum is home to the long-term collection Gods, Myths and Mortals: Greek Treasures Across the Millennia from the iconic Benaki Museum, Athens. The collection provides an overview of Greek history, from the Classical, to Byzantine, Post-Byzantine, and Neo-Hellenic periods.

Other exhibitions include the spellbinding installation ONEIROI by photographer Bill Henson, as well as the post Byzantine Jewellery exhibition Art of Adornment and the exhibition, Cypriot Pottery of the Bronze and Iron Ages: 1800 BCE - 475 BCE.

A cultural hub supporting arts, film, and visual performance, the Hellenic Museum holds events throughout the year, from the popular Summer Cinema program, to theatre, live music, and lectures.

The Hellenic Museum is in the heart of the City of Melbourne, conveniently located on the corner of La Trobe and Williams Street just across from Flagstaff train station and is on the City Circle tram loop. There is ample parking for visitors including short term drop-off areas for large buses.
