In tabloid world, the only things that adolescents hanging around train stations produce are litter and mobile phone footage of scrag fights. That would be wrong. Signal is a youth arts centre housed in a cleverly repurposed train signal box near Flinders Street Station. Designed for budding artists aged13-20, Signal offers them the chance to develop their skills with professional mentors across an array of disciplines including theatre, street art and fashion. Incorporating studio and performance spaces, Signal also hosts a wide variety of one-off workshops ranging from slam poetry to sound editing.
