This April, the world's best 50 restaurants are honoured in Melbourne.

Held exclusively in London and New York City until now, the World's 50 Best Restaurants awards bring together the best chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers and food media from around the world to celebrate global gastronomy.

Perfectly timed to coincide with the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the World's 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony took place at the historic Royal Exhibition Building, Wednesday 5 April, as part of a week-long program running 1-7 April.

A packed schedule of events showcase Australia's best food and wine, with special appearances from culinary royalty, and masterclasses with the world's best chefs.

The annual awards are voted for by 1000 industry professionals from across the globe. Be your own judge with a visit to Melbourne's Attica, now ranked 32nd on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, and to Brae, Birregurra, ranked 44th.
