Sheepish heritage and events

After squatters set up runs in the area in the 1930s, Euroa grew along with the ever-important wool industry. Join locals celebrating the history and success of the fleece at the annual Wool Week Festival, held together with the Euroa Agricultural Show each October.

While you're scheduling, pop these in the diary: the Australian National Show and Shine and the Euroa Village Farmers Market.

Visit the site of the former Euroa Bank, robbed by notorious Ned Kelly and gang (brother Dan and Steve Hart) in 1878. Contemplate history and artwork here, visit the Farmers' Arms Hotel Museum, and witness the town's proud military history at the Victoria Cross Memorial Park.

To truly step back in time, grab a brochure from the Euroa Hub and embark on the Heritage Walk.

Nature's best

Get outdoors and explore the Euroa Arboretum. Wander indigenous gardens and choose a little something for home, fish for trout in the dam, and follow the sculpture walk.

Walking shoes warmed up, head for the Apex Walking Track, a seven-kilometre walk around the Seven Creeks or the Balmattum Hill Walking Track.

Cool off at Polly McQuinns, a popular picnic and swimming spot where water spills over a weir and large granite boulders into a deep-water pool.
