Day walks

Great Ocean Walk

Got time to spend a whole day on the trail? Those looking for walking routes of up to six hours in length will find plenty to choose from along the 104-kilometre Great Ocean Walk. Aire River, Cape Otway and Shelly Beach are all great places to start. Make use of local shuttle services, available for pick up and drop off between or accommodation, or choose one of the return walks, accessible from the parks' main visitor nodes. The time, distance and terrain make these walks more challenging than the short walks.

Aire River to Johanna Beach Hike

Short walks

Great Ocean Walk

Everyone from seasoned hikers to weekend wanderers will find a route to suit their holiday schedule and fitness level along the winding 104-kilometre Great Ocean Walk. Settle into a full circuit walk for something new to see at every stage or make your way back along the same path for a different perspective. Shuttle services are available for pick up and drop off between your parked car or accommodation, and key points along the trail. Short walks are around 2-3 hours in length and range in difficulty from easy to hard. All routes are circuit and/or return walks and are easily accessible from main park visitor nodes.

Aire River Escarpment Lookout Walk

Discover the peaceful estuarine waters of Aire River, the Hordenvale Wetlands and the lookout views.

Lighthouse Cemetery and Lookout Walk

Take the gravel path that leads walkers through beard heath to a lookout point with ocean views.
