Overview

You'd need to be a committed cyclist to ride the Goldfields without stopping. So many historic, gourmet and picturesque distractions just beg you to get off your bike and linger a while.

Luckily, riding around the region is a breeze thanks to an abundance of cycling and mountain-bike trails. Ride through lush forests and vast bushland, cruise around peaceful lakes, take in stunning vistas in national parks, and explore the region's rich heritage in delightful villages and gold-rush towns. Serious mountain-bike enthusiasts can visit the La Larr Ba Gauwa MTB park in Harcourt for 34km of purpose-built tracks around Mount Alexander Regional Park.

Memorable rides, legendary locations

Get on the fat tyres and hit the exciting bush tracks that make up the Goldfields Track. There's challenging climbs, descents and creek crossings, brilliant single and double track blasts, and the chance to tackle gold-rush engineering remains. Shorter sections are great for casual rides, with opportunities to pause in the villages to replenish at galleries, boutiques, wineries and farm gates.
