Overview

Head outdoors and make the most of the many wildlife-viewing opportunities all around the Goldfields. See everything from kangaroos, koalas and wallabies to crocodiles, emus and Tasmanian Devils.

Bushrangers

Wander through national, state and regional parks and observe wildlife in their natural settings. Stroll down a bush track and look out for kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and koalas. For the birdwatchers there a number of parks that are home to rare native species including the swift parrot, bush stone curlew and barking owl.

Evening wanderings

Get close to nature and wildlife on an overnight stay in bush accommodation. Enjoy a glass of wine on your balcony at dusk and observe kangaroos, wombats and others coming out in search of an evening feed.

Animal conversations

Take the kids and visit the Ballarat Wildlife Park for an up close experience with koalas, wombats, emus, kangaroos, crocodiles as well as Australia's largest colony of Tasmanian Devils. Later on have a bush barbecue and check out the reptile house.
