Sea-Safari on Lakes-Explorer

Sea-Safari on Lakes-Explorer offer a unique and educational boat trip at Lakes Entrance on the calm Gippsland Lakes waterways. Departures are based on suitable weather, tides and wildlife viewing opportunities.

75 minute Ocean Entrance Sea-Safari explores the harbour, fishing fleet and Ocean Entrance. Sea-birds, seals and dolphins are often seen. Usually departs at 10:00am and in the afternoon including weekends.

Lakes-Explorer is a modern, comfortable 12 seater vessel, with padded seats, weather protection and easy access.

Lakes-Explorer is also available for private charter or as a Water-Taxi to remote locations including Barrier Landing, Rigby Island, The Entrance and North Arm.

Operating out of Lakes Entrance, Sea-Safari is an educational trip on the calm waterways of the Gippsland Lakes.

All Sea-Safaris are run by Skipper Pete, a former National Park Ranger with 20 years experience managing land and marine national parks. The 75 minute Ocean Entrance Sea-Safari uses Lakes-Explorer MSV 11438, a modern 12 seater ferry.

Passengers should wear suitable clothing and footwear, bring personal sun protection, food and drinking water. Quality binoculars and identification guides are available.

Lakes-Explorer does not have a toilet however most on-shore stops are close to public toilets.

Lakes-Explorer may also be booked as a water taxi (7am to 10pm) between various locations close to Lakes Entrance including Ocean Entrance, Barrier Landing, Rigby Island, Fraser Island Retreat (guests only) North Arm, Wyanga Winery Jetty and Nyerimilang Beach. This is subject to suitable weather.
