2018 Australian Driven Dressage Championships

03 5145 6103

15 Apr 2018

Driven Dressage is a truly unique discipline in this equestrian sport. The object of the driven dressage test is to judge the freedom, regularity of pace, harmony, impulsion, suppleness, lightness, ease of movement and correct bending of horses and ponies on the move, whilst pulling a jinker/carriage/buggy. The horse(s) are required to conduct set movements using prescribed paces and competitors are judged on their style, accuracy and general control of their horse(s).

Each competitor must qualify for the event and are asked to complete two tests in two different arenas, under the scrutiny of six nationally accredited judges (three for each arena).

A feature class of Concor d’Elegance is also included and this showcases the presentation and turnout of the horse(s), harness, carriage and driver.

‘Wow’ factor of a freestyle driven dressage to music ‘Spectacular Under Lights’ on Saturday evening.

Competitors also have the opportunity to drive a ‘Cones Course’, where 20 sets of cones (with balls on top) are to be driven, in a numbered sequence. The speed, agility and precision of horse(s) and drivers combined are challenged against the course and the clock, creating quite a show.
