Enter a strange world of supermarket colours and ubiquitous branding in Marlee McMahon’s paintings.

Optic White — an expression commonly associated with toothpaste — is an exhibition that explores the power of advertising through brand recognition. McMahon’s paintings find a balance between abstraction and realism to uncover the growing saturation of retail imagery within our daily visual culture.

Optic White is an exercise in order and control, where the impulse for cleanliness and a ‘sparkling finish’ borders on the obsessive.
