Art & culture
A thriving art and culture scene provides visitors with much to see and do in Gippsland. Quality public galleries include the Gippsland Art Gallery in Sale and the Latrobe Regional Gallery in Morwell. Here local talent is highlighted and the works of prominent Australian artists presented, along with a variety of travelling exhibitions. There are also numerous intimate studios and art galleries throughout Gippsland where visitors are welcome to browse and buy fine examples of local art and craft, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, woodcrafts, glass, textiles and more.
Enjoy a wide variety of theatre and music performers at performing arts centres in Warragul, Traralgon and Sale as well as smaller intimate venues across the region. Museums and other cultural experiences can give visitors a first hand feel for times past.
Art and culture events occur throughout the year including the Moe and Inverloch Jazz Festivals in March, the 'Playing with Words' Writers Festival in July in Warragul, the Mossvale Park Music Festival in Mirboo North in March and the Paynesville Jazz Festival in February.
