Change with the seasons

Visit throughout the year to enjoy seasonal delights. In spring it's lamb; in summer, morello cherries. Autumn is forest mushroom season, while root vegetables appear in winter, as do truffles in June and July.

Spend your weekends in the Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges region's regular farmers' markets in Daylesford, Lancefield, Woodend, Riddells Creek, Kyneton, Tallarook, Trentham and Eynesbury. Check local visitor guides for dates.

Farm gates, provedores and wineries

Cruise down country roads and fill your boot at rustic farm gates. Stop at tucked-away cellar doors and sip excellent sparkling and cool-climate wines.

Load up on organic produce at Kangaroo Hills or Captains Creek organic farms. Grab cured meats from Istra Smallgoods, and get game and rare breed meats from Daylesford's Spa Venison or direct from the farms. You can even get fresh Murray cod, trout and yabbies, or fish for your own at Tuki Trout Farm. During truffle season (June and July), join a truffle hunt through the 1000 tree truffiere at Black Cat Truffles.

Pick up olive oil, truffles, cheeses and artisan breads at farmers' markets or provedores including Woodend's Maison Maloa, Cliffy's Emporium in Daylesford and Monsieur Pierre in Kyneton.
