Overview

Tiny Trentham, on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung and the Wurundjeri peoples, not only sits high atop the stunning landscape of the Great Dividing Range but it punches above its weight in the foodie stakes.

Load up on chestnuts, cherries and heirloom fruit at The Nutty Orchard, and stop in at Wallaby Creek Olive Grove for olive-oil tastings. Dine on sourdough breads and pizza from RedBeard Bakery’s 120-year-old scotch oven and seasonal local pub fare at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. Book in early for French farmhouse cooking by celebrated local chef and farmer Annie Smithers at Du Fermier.

Magnificent Trentham Falls is located just a couple of minutes from the historic town centre. With a drop of some 32 metres, it is Victoria's highest single-drop waterfall. Enjoy a picnic and take in the vista by the river. Hikers will appreciate the walking tracks in the surrounding forest.

For panoramic views of Mount Macedon, the You Yangs and the Dandenong Ranges, drive to Blue Mount or McLaughlins lookouts in Wombat State Forest, or explore by foot or on horseback.
