Winter wine time is red ahead. We have some 600 cellar doors across our 20 wine regions with spectacular winter wines to keep you warm. This is the season to pick out your favourite pinot, single out your dream sangiovese, settle in with a robust shiraz or durif, and sweeten it all with a perfectly aged muscat.
Wander our wine regions, grape by grape.
Pick your way through prize-winning pinots in the Yarra Valley. Sample the best from wineries and vintages big and small; make time for the renowned Tarrawarra, Rochford and De Bortoli cellar doors.
Exceptional pinot noir is almost a given on the Mornington Peninsula. Wander into boutique wineries and the region's heavyweights Port Phillip Estate, Montalto, T'Gallant and Crittenden Estate.
In the Macedon Ranges, pick-nic an elegant pinot at Hanging Rock Winery and Passing Clouds. In Gippsland, stop for a drop at Narkoojee and Cannibal Creek.
Shiraz and durif
Start your shiraz circuit in serious red wine country: the Heathcote and Bendigo wine regions. The flagship varietal in the area since its early planting, the shiraz here is deservedly world famous.
In Rutherglen, you'll find the best durif. Most of the region's twenty wineries grow and produce the signature drop (along with shiraz), so knock on cellar doors to earn your tasting stripes. Make time to tap into the collective seven-generation-strong wine wisdom at Stanton and Killeen Wines.
